: Acharya Nagarjuna University awarded Brahmanandam an honorary doctorate award. He has been selected for 2005 year's Allu Award instituted in the memory of Allu Rama Lingaiah. On 1 October 2005, the award was presented to him at a function in Hyderabad. The award consists of a Swarna Kankanam (Translation: Gold bracelet), a citation and a souvenir. He recently earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for acting in 754 Telugu films in 20 years. In January 2009, the Government of India bestowed the coveted title of Padmasri on Brahmanandam for his contributions to art. As on 1 May, he acted in about 840 Telugu movies, which is a record. Selected for Nandi Award for best male comedian for 2008 films announced in 2009. This was for the film Ready.
Biography : He was a Telugu lecturer, in the town of Attili, before coming into films.He first started his career with popular Telugu director, Hasya Brahma Jandhyala. His impeccable comedy timing quickly took him to new heights and he now is one of the most respectable comedians in the history of Telugu cinema. He has also acted in many films in Hindi and his next Hindi film is in Untitled Sangeeth Sivan Project that is remake of Athadu. His first silver screen appearance was in a comedy film starred by Rajendra Prasad called Aha Na Pellanta. Every year He is acting in minimum of 35 films, for the past 22 Years[citation needed].According to him Jandhyala was the best comedy director he has ever worked with. In the next generation E. V. V. Satyanarayana and S. V. Krishna Reddy are the best. He is writing a book based on his film experiences
