We have been updating you about the performance of Bollywood's biggest opener ever, Salman Khan's BODYGUARD. And here is the latest. Not only has BODYGUARD beaten the full week total of DABANGG (80.50 crore) in 5-days flat by netting 86 crore during the extended weekend, it appears that it will also be the fastest to the 100 crore mark as well! Given the Monday performance (normally a day of crash!) the film notched up another 8.75 crore. With the way the morning shows of Tuesday are booked in many circuits, it will not be a surprise if BODYGUARD gets to the magical 100 crore figure today (Tuesday-7th day) or for sure tomorrow, another new record for Hindi cinema! The other releases of the week- BOL, THAT GIRL IN YELLOW BOOTS and MUMMY PUNJABI- have all been rejected, with collections in the range of 8-10 percent and in some case 15 percent

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to make Ra.One bigger than the best. While it is a known fact that he wanted his superhero film to compete with the best in the international arena, he is sticking to his vision by putting it all into real action as well. Recently he finished the background score of the film in none less than Prague, the Mecca of music when it comes to creating a grand sound, to lend huge cinematic experience. Confirms a source, "Shah Rukh was sure that if he was competing with the likes of Spiderman, Batman and other superhero flicks, he had to get the music right by all means. He discussed this with his director Anubhav Sinha along with composers Vishal & Shekhar and Prague was finalised. The composer duo has been familiar with the music setting there. They in fact upped the ante further and brought together a 200 piece orchestra for the background score of the film." Those who have had a sneak peak at the rough cut of the film along with a very international sounding background score are vouching for it already. Though there have been instances of Indian filmmakers heading to Prague for the finalising the musical score, even the technicians out there have been going gaga over the final results of Ra.One and are claiming that this is the best ever that they have created for a long time. "This isn't all as, post Prague, the music also travelled to London for additional effects", the source continues, "It was going to be a very expensive process since Prague by itself was quite costly. Shah Rukh's only query was whether these effects would really make a difference when heard in theatres. When he was informed that it would indeed be the case and Ra.One would find itself standing firmly on an international map due to an accentuated musical appeal, he didn't blink an eyelid and gave a go-ahead in five minutes flat." Though songs from the film have already made it to the telly starting with 'Chammak Challo', it would be still some time before the background score is heard. However, a glimpse of that would be included into the music CDs of Ra.One which are hitting the stands later this month. When contacted, Vishal Dadlani (of Vishal-Shekhar duo) confirmed the news, "Yes, we have taken the music to Prague and London. Both Shah Rukh and Anubhav wanted a particular sound and we have managed to bring it alive for Ra.One."

Soha Ali Khan's 'Soundtrack' is all set for release this month and the film is expected to dwelve deep into the world of drugs, sex and rock-n-roll when it comes to urban party circuits. Since the film tells the story of a DJ (played by Rajeev Khandelwal), each of these elements does make it's presence felt in the narrative. Though the actors as well as the makers are confident that the film would appeal to the youth, a few have wondered whether Censor board would have objection to any of such of the so-called objectionable elements. However insiders from the industry feel that 'Soundtrack' shouldn't face any issue due to a liberal stance adopted by them off late. "It was during Sharmila Tagore's tenure itself that the Censor Board had actually become much more liberal when it came to the usage of cuss words or disturbing visuals," says a source, "Something that was considered sacrilege during the 90s pretty much became a norm during the 2000s though the lady still insisted that stricter rules were applied when it came to distinguishing an adult film from the one that was okay for public viewing. "Exactly," a prominent filmmaker agrees, "She had been quite reasonable through her tenure and brought about quite a few positive changes." At her end Soha too feels that 'Soundtrack' hardly has the kind of any material, whether verbal or visual, that could have faced Censor's ire. "There may be couple of scenes where Rajeev (Khandelwal) is doing some drugs or is engaged in an act of passion. But then they are very tame portrayals of what happens in real life when you get together in such party circles where drugs, sex and rock-n-roll are part of one's life," says Soha, "I am sure when people would see the film, they won't be offended by anything whatsoever." Well, we would like to check that ourselves when the film releases on 30th September.

Preity Zinta will be awarded with the World Diamond Group Platinum Award for Peoples' Friendship at the upcoming Venice Film Festival. The Award will be tied-in with the magnificent White OliveTree, an invaluable marble, platinum and diamond sculpture. The award also celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Kinéo Diamanti al Cinema Award. World Diamond Group has established a prize to be awarded during the 68th Venice Film Festival, in the context of the event Kineo Diamanti al Cinema event, to emphasize his belief in art as a privileged means to establish, together with respect for justice and human rights, true and lasting friendship relationships among peoples. The first World Diamond Group Platinum Award for Peoples' Friendship goes to Preity Zinta engaged in the work of people of different cultures' harmonization and reconciliation, contributing in this way to the World Diamond Group mission of enhancing, through beauty and peoples' friendship to the birth of a culture and a civilization that over time produce peace and prosperity. The award is symbolized by a sculpture, the White Olive Tree, born of a quest for purity, created by the artist and theologian Agatino Cappella, Art Director of World Diamond Group. It consists of a block of Carrara hand carved marble for the tree trunk, 3,333 grams of platinum for branches and leaves, and of 3,003 diamonds, 2,503 marquise cut and 500 new 82 facets round cut, for a total of 366 carats. It's a work of art which has no precedent in history, carried out, under the direction of the artist Agatino Cappella, in the factory of Roberto Casarotto, where the fusion and processing of platinum were performed. After being shown at the Venice Film Festival, the White Olive Tree will be displayed at Palazzo Lascaris in Turin, before starting a world tour in other prestigious venues. The olive tree symbolises a tree that brings together different cultures around the Mediterranean Sea, and is widespread in many countries around the world. It has always been a symbol of peace and light and its oil is one of the most common foods of the Mediterranean peoples and, more recently, in the world. These symbols are emphasized by platinum, the precious white metal par excellence, expression of purity, incorruptibility, eternity, by diamonds, expression of eternal light, and by the marble, expression of a new Italian Renaissance. A worthy tribute to the women of our time who, confronted with important choices, keep intact their belief in the values and quality.
