Mumbai, (IANS) Her popularity and hectic schedule have kept Bollywood's current heartthrob Deepika Padukone away from home for three years. She's finally looking forward to being in Bangalore with her family for Ganesh Chaturthi. "I'm going home after three years. It feels really good," Deepika, who hit the jackpot with her debut film "Om Shanti Om", told IANS. "I've either been shooting out of the country or just been busy in Mumbai. It's been a really hectic time for me. I haven't been to my home in Bangalore for three years," she added. Ganesh Chaturthi, which celebrates the birth of Hindu god Ganesh, falls on Sep 3 and Deepika is just waiting to spend some quality time with family during the festive season. "Ganesh Chaturthi is a very big event in my home in Bangalore. It's a time when my entire family, including my sister, comes together... Or whatever remains of the family in Bangalore. A lot of my relatives are now in the US. I've missed the occasion for the past three years. So I can't help it. I've to go home now. "Am I religious? I don't go to the temple every day. But my god is right here in my heart. I believe in a force. And that keeps me grounded," said the actress whose second film with beau Ranbir Kapoor "Bachna Ae Haseeno" too hit the bull's eye. While Deepika chose acting as her profession, younger sister Alisha is a professional golfer. "My sister is five years younger to me. I sometimes envy my sister. She has gone into sports, like my father. And she gets to play golf professionally. That's a unique position for a 19-year-old to be in. Acting seems rather ordinary in comparison." But Deeepika's sister has also got an offer to act in a Kannada film recently. "That's right, she has been offered a Kannada film. But she's absolutely not interested in a film career. One actress in the family is enough," she laughed. So what's the one role that's on Deepika's wish list? "I'd love to do a sports film. Not necessarily my dad's game badminton but any sport except cricket. I feel too much priority is given to cricket in our country. I'm so glad that films on other sports like hockey and football are being made. I'd love to do a film based on badminton." But unconventional roles are surely coming Deepika's way without asking. "When I was told that in 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' I had to play an Indian cab driver in Australia who doesn't believe in marriage, I said I had to do this even if there were two other girls in the story. Luckily for me I got along like a house on fire with Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba. Even if I hadn't, I'd still have enjoyed doing the role thoroughly. And not because Ranbir was in it," she said. The actress will be seen next in "Chandni Chowk to China" with Akshay Kumar

Sometime last week, a special screening of UTV Motion Pictures' A Wednesday was held in Gujarat for CM Narendra Modi. Close on the heels of that screening, the makers have decided to hold yet another screening of the same film, this time for the Mumbai Police. Rakesh Maria, Javed Ahmed, A.N.Roy, and around 65 Senior police officers, who deal with terrorists and are part of the Anti Terrorist Squad are going to be watching the film on Monday,1st of September. Rakesh Maria and Javed Ahmed were part of the investigation team of 1993 Mumbai blasts. A Wednesday is a fast-paced thriller based on the aftermath of bomb blasts. Anupam Kher plays a police commissioner who gets a threat call and is on a mission to stop the terrorist. Aamir Bashir and Jimmy Shergill are part of Anti Terrorist Squad in the film while Naseeruddin Shah plays the antagonist. Speaking about the special screening director Neeraj Pandey said, "This is our way of saying thanks to the police force. The story of the film is majorly inspired by the way our police force tackle the situations. Through the film, we would like to salute all of them." "A Wednesday deals with urban terrorism and how the police force has to handle it uniquely. We are very happy to realize that veterans of our police force want to see this film. A film like this is very relevant in today's time. We are gladly arranging a screening where heroes of our police force like A.N.Roy, Rakesh Maria and Ahmed Javed would be seeing the film" said Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO-UTV Motion Pictures. Director Neeraj Pandey along with actors Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah are going to be present for the screening.

Mani Ratnam, one of the most talented directors of India, has roped in Bollywood heart-throb Ranbir Kapoor for his next directorial venture, tentatively titled Ravana, a modern day adaptation of the epic, some sources said. The movie, a trilingual to be simultaneously made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, will have star couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwaya Rai in the lead in Hindi as Rama and Sita; comedy hero Govinda will play the role of Hanuman. Incidentally, Vikram, who will play Ravana in the Hindi version, will be playing Ram in the Tamil and Telugu versions. Aishwarya will be the heroine in all three languages. Mani Ratnam has been working on this three language film script since he wrapped up Guru in 2007. According to reports, Mani Ratnam was impressed by Ranbir's performance in Saawariya, in which the actor has done a tremendous job, even if the movie was not a big hit. However, it is not revealed what kind of character Mani Ratnam will cast Ranbir in. The film, to be made under Ratnam's banner Madras Talkies, will be produced by Mani Ratnam's sister Sharda. It will go on floors from September; P.C. Sreeram, Mani Ratnam’s friend and partner, and Mani Ratnam’s discovery A.R. Rahman will also be on the board of this historic mega project.
